London Rolls out Summary Care Records

As a part of a national initiative to equip citizens with electronic care records, the Department of Health has announced the launch of the Summary Care Record (SCR) throughout London. Under the program, all citizens in the capital would be informed, in writing, about the outlines of the SCR initiative, giving them the option to decide whether to create their own SCR. The initial SCRs to be developed will be uploaded at the Princess Street Group Practice, based at Southwark. In addition, the records will also be created at two GP practices located at Chingford, east London. Read more

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded an Information Technology Infrastructure Operations indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). The contract, with a three-year base period and four one-year options, was granted during CSC’s FY2Q 2010, which ended on October 2, 2009. Read more
Auditor General of Canada makes Recommendations to Infoway on Contracting and Reporting of EHR Projects

A recent audit report on the Canada Health Infoway (Infoway), carried out by the Auditor General of Canada (OAG), has indicated that Infoway has accomplished much from its inception eight years ago. The OAG, who started an audit in February 2008, made recommendations to Infoway to enhance its public reporting control, goods and services contracting, project deliverables documentation, apart from technical suggestions related to ensuring compliance with standards.
